How can others engage with STAR?

STAR is open to collaboration with brands, partners, and stakeholders who share our commitment to sustainability. We invite engagement through joint research projects, co-creation of practical solutions, manufacturer-led buyer dialogues, and participation in regional and global advocacy efforts. To explore opportunities to work with us, connect with the STAR Secretariat through our contact page.

What is STAR?

STAR (Sustainable Textiles of the Asian Region) is the first-ever inter-Asian network bringing together leading garment, textile, and footwear producer associations. Representing nine associations across six key manufacturing countries and over 35,000 manufacturers, we act as a united regional voice to influence global policy, strengthen collaboration, and advance fairer, greener, and more competitive supply chains.

What does STAR do?

We align producers across Asia on shared sustainability challenges and speak collectively on issues that matter most — from renewable energy and decarbonization to purchasing practices and due diligence. STAR turns dialogue into action by developing joint positions, sharing solutions, and building partnerships that create real impact on the factory floor and in global conversations about the future of fashion.

Who are STAR's members?

Our members are national associations representing the largest apparel-producing nations in Asia: Bangladesh (BGMEA, BKMEA), Cambodia (TAFTAC), China (CNTAC), Myanmar (MGMA), Pakistan (PHMA, PTEA, TMA), and Vietnam (VITAS). Each association designates a representative to serve on the STAR Board, ensuring decisions reflect the collective priorities of Asia’s manufacturing base.

How is STAR governed and funded?

STAR is governed by its Board and supported by a professional Secretariat that manages operations, drives projects, and coordinates advocacy efforts. Our funding model combines member contributions and strategic partnerships, enabling us to stay independent, focused, and capable of scaling initiatives that benefit both producers and the wider industry.

What are STAR's priorities?

STAR’s strategic priorities focus on three key areas: advocacy and influence, climate and environmental action, and learning and knowledge exchange. From pushing for harmonized buyer codes of conduct to supporting renewable energy transitions and sharing best practices across borders, these priorities guide our work in building fairer and more sustainable supply chains.
